What makes Windhorse International different?
Each day begins with hay and a brief physical check of the horses. We allow a minimum of 30 minutes to eat hay before feeding a customized grain program to ensure the grains maximum absorption. Once fed and "suited up and/or sprayed" for the season the horses are turned out. We have very flexible turnout schedules and customize them for each horse, allowing for short turnouts, long turnouts, day turnouts and/or night turnout options.
Horses are fed hay and/or grain around noon time each day (customized if needed to allow for noon time riding). During fly season all horses are re-sprayed at lunch to minimize potential irritation. In the afternoon when they are brought in for the evening they are given a complete examination. Checking for bumps, abrasions, heat, swelling, dehydration, and their feet are picked. Legs are hosed if muddy, and fly masks are hosed off if muddy or dusty. All problems are notated in a daily log book that is maintained on each horse.
Dinner (hay and grain) is fed in the late afternoon, again customized as needed, and a final feeding is done at night check each evening.
Windhorse International will act as coordinator as needed with owners, trainers, farriers and veterinarians.
Most services are included in the full board price so there are no surprises at the end of the month.
